Individual Therapy
In individual counseling, we will work together to identify your goals, develop skills and foster insight to make more value-based decisions, and problem-solve to help the you implement lasting changes and create a more meaningful life.
Individual therapy gives you a space to discuss matters such as your thoughts and feelings, history, goals, desires, and values without the pressure of protecting someone else’s feelings or sharing the space.
I provide a collaborative approach to therapy that combines skill-building and empathetic exploration, drawing on my training in evidence-based treatments such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), through a multicultural lens. Because every individual is unique, I strive to tailor treatment to you and the specific challenges bringing you here. Whether you’re reaching out from a point of curiosity or due to a specific life event, we will spend time discussing your hopes for therapy and how therapy may benefit you.
Couples Therapy
It takes mindful action to be in a healthy relationship with others. In couples therapy, I will work collaboratively with each partner identify your goals, communicate needs, and work toward fostering deeper understanding and engagement in their relationships. In individual therapy, the client is the individual meeting with me, but in couple’s therapy, the client is the relationship.
My approach to couples treatment incorporates cognitive-behavioral, emotion-focused, and multicultural approaches.
Couples counseling can be a good place to work with your partner(s) on a variety of concerns, including:
communication difficulties (e.g. having the same argument over and over)
trust issues
patterns of emotional expression and engagement
cultural, religious, and other differences
navigation of relationships with other family members
sexual concerns (e.g. navigating differential desires, exploring or introducing kink)
parenting and blended families
navigation of relationship configurations (e.g., monogamy, open relationships, polyamory)
